Practice (2)

Buddha comes on 3 planks
Rough-hewn & carved
Among racks of wine bottles
Shelved by color & dryness
Below the chin
Low notes & drums
Dance-floor trance
"It's a bigger
Scene
In Europe" she breathes.

Input: Throw Down Your Heart

Strings stretched on dry land
Tuned to folk cultish
Broadly broadcasted
Collaborative collective conductive
Dancing digits
Route of roots

A blanket flapping
A good pounding.

Another April goal

Along with writing a poem (or fragment) a day in April, I'll be working on adding poems to Punk Poems that will become an e-book this summer.

My goal is to have 100 punk poems for this edition. So far I have 74. (If anyone is counting, there were 48 published in Punk Poems and another 26 coming in Graffito.) I have a pile of drafts already but need another dozen or so to choose among. More on this process later.

Blogging and me

One note: You can see I've had this blog since 2006 and haven't posted since 2008. Conclusion: I'm not good at blogging. This will add to the challenge of a poem a day here. Noted.

A poem a day for a month

As poet in residence for Hugo House in April I'll be writing a poem a day. I don't often talk about my writing practice but I'll also try to share some of the process of drafting and editing that I go through.
